Create the Swirl Effect in Photoshop
Create the above way-cool creative effect in Photoshop and Photoshop Elements by following these steps.
1) Filter > Distort > Polar Coordinates > Polar to Rectangular;

2)Image > Rotate Canvas > Flip Canvas Vertically;

3)Filter > Distort > Polar Coordinates > Rectangular to Polar.
Adventures in Aperture 2. Check out this set of images. By simply using the Crop tool and the Dodge & Burn tool (which also features Saturate, Desaturate, Sharpen, Blur, Contrast and Fade), I was able to transform an OK shot into a much more dramatic image. More on Aperture.

Remove the color and sharpness from an image - and you remove some of the reality.
